Tell readers what you do: I spend a lot of time brainstorming and working on The Creative Collective. In particular, how to do social media properly, how to boost SEO, and how to provide quality content.

I also do business consulting. I specialize in small businesses and individuals just starting out that need guidance with their financials and processes. I get them organized so that they are set up for success from the beginning and don't have to back track when tax season rolls around, or worse, an audit ensues.

Favorite part of your work: I love researching best practices and learning new aspects of boosting businesses.  I have a knack for organizing and getting people set off on the right foot. I also find that presenting new ideas and things for my clients to think about and be aware of is very rewarding.

What inspires you? I read a lot and am particularly inspired by stories of overcoming adversity and how people are changing the world through social justice, innovation, and psychological (self-help) research. I also spend a lot of time listening to all kinds of music and playing it as well.

Tell us about your background: I am the daughter of entrepreneurs—my parents grew a small empire out of nothing and I learned a lot from watching and working with them. I also have three brothers (older by 8, 14, and 21 years!) who have provided an amazing example of getting on your feet professionally as well as raising a family. They work in extremely diverse careers, but have taught me much about integrity, hard work, and innovation. I have lived in the big city and the small city and have been fortunate to experience diverse cultures and socioeconomic conditions in various parts of the world.

Favorite quote: Consider it pure joy my friends, when you face trials of many kinds, for the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

Top three business books you recommend to aspiring entrepreneurs: Just three? How about four! :)

What are your long-term goals? Short-term goals? Personal goals? My long-term goals include being able to look back and have few regrets on the path my life has taken, so I'm working to make sure I don't neglect pursuing something out of fear or what-if. I'd rather look back and say, "Oh...maybe I shouldn't have taken that job that one time," instead of saying, "Oh...I'm so sad we never decided to do that..."  Another long-term goal is to raise healthy, aware, well-rounded, and hard-working kids.

What do you love about The Creative Collective? I absolutely love coming in to work around people with completely different careers, vocations, talents, and interests. It has been amazing and such a joy to see the work our members are doing, and the way they are innovating in their industries globally and around the Quad City community.
